The befriending service offers one to one support and friendship to people who are socially isolated as a result of mental ill health.
We aim to improve the quality of life for people aged between 18 -65 who are experiencing difficulties with their mental and emotional well being. We hope to make a positive impact by introducing clients to volunteers in order to support social independence. Volunteer partnerships usually meet once a week for a minimum of two hours, what they do in this time depends on what a client needs from the relationship.
Befrienders may be asked to join in sports activities, evening classes, shopping trips, cinema etc or just sit and listen. The aim of the partnership is to give the client an opportunity to build a supportive social network, decrease their sense of isolation, improve their emotional well being and quality of life.
