About the service

The service allows Coventry residents who are suffering from mild to moderate depression, anxiety, panic or phobias access to two NICE recommended computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programmes. FearFighter and Beating the Blues.

Benefits to GPs

  • Able to provide a NICE recommended treatment
  • Alternative to medication - no known side effects
  • Clinically proven as an effective non drug treatment for depression, anxiety, panic and phobias.
  • Waiting lists reduced as large numbers of patients are treated
  • Frees up therapist time for more complex cases

Benefits to patients

  • Immediate access - no waiting lists
  • 24 hour availability
  • Teaches practical life-long skills easily and effectively
  • Patients get better and stay better

Both programmes are simple, easy to use, anonymous, confidential and freely available through the NHS.

They are clinically proven, effective non drug treatments and have been proven to be as effective as face-to-face therapy. NICE, the National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence, has endorsed both programmes as being as effective as face-to-face therapy.

You do not need to be a computer expert to use the service. Support will be provided where necessary. It is a supported, self-help treatment option. Take the programme at your own pace and fit it in with your schedule. No waiting lists.

How are they accessed?

GPs refer to the cCBT service which is managed by Coventry Mind. A support worker will contact the patient to make an appointment for assessment. The patient will be given log on details at the appointment once suitability for the programme has been assessed.
