All our befrienders are volunteers. They are given comprehensive training which includes

• Introduction to Coventry Mind and its services.
• Basic Mental Health Awareness.
• Role of the volunteer (which covers health and safety, boundaries, confidentiality and policies and procedures)
• Two hour in depth training for working 1 – 1 as a befriender

Once volunteers have completed their training, they are partnered to a client of similar age and interests (if possible) as soon as possible.

We provide out of pocket expenses, ongoing training, regular supervision and support to all volunteers along with regular reviews of their partnership. In return we ask that volunteers are committed, caring, reliable and able to work within the boundaries set by the Befriending service.
